Whenever I think of God's love for me I am overwhelmed. I know that He lives and loves me despite my weaknesses, sins, etc His love is unconditional. I know this through personal experiences. To me an important part of knowing that God loves us is by doing two things. One, accept His love for us by getting to know Him better through praying, reading His words, whatever that is to draw us closer to Him every day. In return by accepting His love for us we are showing our love for Him. Second, once we feel and know of His love, we need to share that with everyone. (Matt 22:36-39) My farewell topic was based off of the talk "The daily portion of love" by H. Burke Peterson. In this talk he said, "Impossible mountains are climbed by those who have the self-confidence that comes from truly being loved. Prisons and other institutions, even some of our own homes, are filled with those who have been starved for affection. In a world and society where Satan is launching his most vicious attacks ever on the children of men, we have no greater weapon than pure, unselfish, Christlike love."
I am not sure because I am having a little trouble feeling God's love right now. So, maybe all of you could help me. My goal in reading is to rekindle my love for reading the Book of Mormon to be able to feeling His love. Right now I am less active.
Hi Cassie, you are on the right path with reading the Book of Mormon. I know for myself that when I become casual with the basics I don't feel as good. I think as you continue to read the Book of Mormon along with sincere prayer you will be able to feel his love. I am sure someone has a better answer for this but just know you are not alone and he loves you very much.
Cassie--I am excited for you to start on this journey of reading the Book of Mormon and exercising your faith to come to know God and Jesus Christ better. The Book of Mormon testifies of Them and helps us come to know of Their perfect character and perfect love. As we come to know and remember Them, we begin to recognize and feel Their love, mercy, and compassion. To know Them is to love Them!
