Nephi responded to this situation by praying for help. Read Nephi’s prayer in 1 Nephi 7:17–18 aloud. What did Nephi pray for? What do you find significant about his prayer?

In the Strength of the Lord
His prayer was for strengthen and the softening of his brothers heart. Not to show strengthen in himself but in the Lord. It was more of a testimony of God’s power. The next time they went to lay hands upon him “one of the daughters of Ishmael, yea, and also her mother, and one of the sons of Ishmael, did plead with my brethren, insomuch that they did soften their hearts; and they did cease striving to take away my life. We can see that in all things Nephi wanted to bring glory to God.”1 Nephi 7:19
