The Lord allowed us to make our own decisions, wise and foolish. That ability to choose for ourselves is the gift of this life. The Saviors atonement is the gift that makes redemption possible from our foolish choices. It doesn't make any sense that parents who love their children would say nothing to them when they make mistakes.
