I am impressed by this conversion story of the king of the Lamanites because of the sequence of events. At one point, this king was determined to slay his own son for believing the words of Ammon. In fact, the Lord specifically told Ammon to avoid going with Lamoni to see the King because the King would seek Ammon's life. Looking through this story to see what was it that changed the King, it was the declaration that the King would be cast of at the last day and the mention of the Spirit of the Lord. I can't imagine that what Aaron was asking the King to do was easy, to "bow down before God." I don't believe kings bow down to anybody. But this time, the King was willing to do it based on Aaron's teachings and Ammon's actions. Not only did the King kneel, he went further to prostrate himself on the floor. I can't say that I've ever humbled myself to that extent, and laying in bed to say a prayer doesn't count here. Great question Melissa, thanks for this great Blog.
