  1. I love how this chapter ends in verse 23 saying, "and they were zealous for keeping the commandments of God." I hope to develop and keep that zeal in my own life. I also noticed how it says'for' not 'in'. I'm not going to be perfect in my obedience, but I can be zealous in my trying.

  2. I think it's interesting the comparisons between the different teaching approaches of Ammon and Aaron and the outcome of those approaches. In Alma 17:25 we learn Ammons approach to teaching..."I will be thy servant." Because he chose to serve king Lamoni he was successful in Lamoni's conversion. Aaron on the other hand, in Alma 21:3..."came to the city of Jerusalem, and first began to preach." (17:5)..."and an Amalekite began to contend with him." (17:13) "Aaron and his brethren were taken and cast into prison." We can learn from Ammon and Aaron as we share the gospel or desire to create relationships with others. Success comes more quickly if we have first reached out in love and service in our relationships with people.
