The question posed in Hel. 5:40 is pertinent to us today: ““What shall we do, that this cloud of darkness may be removed from overshadowing us?" We find the answer in vs. 41 ““You must repent, and cry unto the voice, even until ye shall have faith in Christ,.... and when ye shall do this, the cloud of darkness shall be removed from overshadowing you.” Repentance and faith in Christ is still the answer today for removing darkness and restoring light, life, truth, and peace… In vs. 47 we read Heavenly Father’s merciful response to those Lamanites and the Nephite dissenters who had earlier sought to take the life of His servants but who had repented and exercised their faith in Jesus Christ “Peace, peace be unto you, because of your faith in my Well Beloved, who was from the foundation of the world.” This statement reminds me of the line in a favorite hymn “to those who fall, how kind thou art! How good to those who seek!”
