September 28th Reading Assignment

 Daily Reading Question

What can we learn from the cycle of righteousness and wickedness that is seen many times in the scriptures?

  1. I found the cycle mentioned in verses 34-37 fascinating! In the past as I read I was always so amazed how the people In the Book of Mormon could forget God so easily and fall into wickedness. But after tonight I realized I am no different! Maybe not to the same degree, but certainly a type of. I think the key phrase for me tonight was found in verse 26..."even in the space of not many years." Faith, testimony, and spiritual growth require constant attention and nourishment. Like a plant who without water and sun will die, so will our testimony and spiritual focus if not nurtured daily. I have had those seasons where I am so diligent, dedicated, and spiritually focused because of the daily acts of noushing...then seemed so surprised days, weeks, or months later when I feel more distant to Heavenly Father. That spiritual distancing came one missed scripture study, one missed prayer at a time slowly leading me away from the close relationship I once enjoyed with the spirit. Then I am "stired up again in remembrance of the Lord" (vs.34) and again get back on track. Grateful for the promise found in Mosiah 26:30 "Yea, and as often as my people repent will I forgive them their trespasses against me."
