How does living the gospel change our nature?

  1. When my husband and I were living in Spokane, WA we had a stake president who help me understand what verse 30 really means. We had a family member living with us at the time. She was trying to get clean from substance abuse and we were struggling knowing how to help. We knew if she would turn to the Savior He would help mend her heart and addiction, but she was stubborn and wouldn't come unto Christ. This good stake president called me one day telling me he couldn't get us off his mind and needed to check on our family. I shared with him our concerns for our family member and our desire that she exercise faith in Jesus Christ so He could help her heal. He listened and then bore a powerful testimony..."Jaisey, The Lord knows her and loves her. He will make Himself manifested to her in a way she can not deny Him. Her heart will change." I think this is what Alma is trying to teach us. Because the Savior knows and loves us...even those who reject him...he will manifest Himself to all until every knee shall bow and tongue confess that He is their Savior. We may not have an angel appear, but each of us at some time in our life will have a moment where the Savior will make Himself known to us. Our hearts, like Alma, will change. Hopefully we will take Alma's lead and when we are converted share what we know with those who don't.
