I don't know if this makes sense but I think that verse 27 means that we need to watch out for each other. In Mosiah 18:8-10, it talks about Alma and the people that are about to be baptized. In those verses, it talks about as we follow Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, are we willing to bear one another's burdens that may be light? Or are willing to mourn that those that mourn; and to comfort those that stand in need of comfort, and to stand as witnesses of God at all times and in all things, and in all places? Those are some of the covenants (promises) that are made when one is baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Since we are all God's children we are part of His eternal family. So that was a long tangent of why I think we need to look out for each other. Our covenants should be a reminder of the how and why we need to serve others.
