None Were With Him

  1. Vs 7. These details are what gave him the experience necessary to understand what each us feels. But he went so much further down that path than we ever could, suffering far beyond what each of us may consider to be our darkest and most lonely moments. Those experiences helped him to understand us, but to go beyond that and take upon himself the sins of all mankind... even those who never would believe or even care, even those who would deny him and hate him. It's more than I can imagine, even in a lifetime of trying.

  2. I liked this part from Jeffery R. Hollands talk today, "Brothers and sisters, one of the great consolations of this Easter season is that because Jesus walked such a long, lonely path utterly alone, we do not have to do so. His solitary journey brought great company for our little version of that path—the merciful care of our Father in Heaven, the unfailing companionship of this Beloved Son, the consummate gift of the Holy Ghost, angels in heaven, family members on both sides of the veil, prophets and apostles, teachers, leaders, friends. All of these and more have been given as companions for our mortal journey because of the Atonement of Jesus Christ and the Restoration of His gospel. Trumpeted from the summit of Calvary is the truth that we will never be left alone nor unaided, even if sometimes we may feel that we are. Truly the Redeemer of us all said: “I will not leave you comfortless: [My Father and] I will come to you [and abide with you].”

  3. My testimony has always, for as long as I can remember, been that the Savior lived, died, and was resurrected so that we could all live again. I have viewed Him thru the lense of having suffered for my sins, and having bled and died for me, and having been resurrected so that I may too be resurrected…(notice past tense) I have also viewed Him thru the lense of looking forward to His coming and have had the desire to inherit eternal life with Him, Heavenly Father and my family. What I have, at times, neglected to realize are His daily dealings with me. At this Easter time I am reminded that He lives! He is the same yesterday, TODAY, and forever. He LIVES each day for you and for me (notice present tense). He is not just cheering us on from a distance, at the finish line. He is bringing water, help, and aid as we run (or sometimes walk, or even crawl :) in this race called mortality. In Alma 7 we read “And he will take upon him their infirmities, that his bowels may be filled with mercy, . . . that he may know according to the flesh how to succor his people.” My testimony is that He knows how to succor His people and He does it! In present times, as He did in the times of past.

  4. The word fatigue struck me. He knows what it feels like to mentally, physically, spiritually and emotionally exhausted and spent. To know that He has suffered that for me and suffers that with me empowers me to continue to press forwRd even when it would be easier to give up.

  5. Thank you all for your testimonies - they have strengthened mine! For me, the words "anguish for" stood out. I recognize that He feels the same pains, temptations, fatigue, etc as me, but also He feels it because of me. I know God loves me and does not want me to sin. Just as I am sad when I see my children or others making mistakes, that is how He feels about me. Only eternally so. Anguish that caused Him to bleed from every pore. And yet because of this, I can repent and live with Him again!
