  1. Love this quote from Elder Scott's talk today, "Satan is no match for the Savior. Satan’s fate is decided. He knows he has lost, but he wants to take as many with him as he can. He will try to ruin your goodness and abilities by exploiting your weaknesses. Stay on the Lord’s side, and you will win every time."

He makes it sound so simple, and in reality, if we are seeing clearly and have the Spirit with us; it really is that simple.

  2. Elder Richard G. Scott, an apostle of the Lord, gives us some insight into what he has learned to be “absolute law.” I like math because it is predictable--it follows certain laws. It takes out the guesswork--it is step by step and logical. Well, Elder Scott gives us an absolute law. In mathematical terms I suppose it might look like this…. obedience to commandments of the Lord + serving His children unselfishly = Power from God (i.e. insights, talents, abilities expanded and strength received from the Lord) Elder Scott reminds us of our need for the Lord’s power in establishing peace-filled homes and gives us a formula on how to access that power.

  3. I love how in verse 11 it says...and like dragons did they fight. Our family motto is "No empty chairs!" Satan is raging a war on families and you better believe I will be fighting like a dragon to keep my family together!! Limhi was prepared and was able to see the lamanites from the tower before they were able to attack their families. And just like limhi, we need to be prepared with our spiritual towers...going to church, magnifying our callings, attending the temple, scripture study, prayer, FHE, etc.. By doing these things will help protect our families from the adversary and have a Christ centered home.

  4. Loved the talk today, I loved this part, "You live in a world where technological advances occur at an astounding pace. It is difficult for many of my generation to keep up with the possibilities. Depending on how technology is used, these advances can be a blessing or a deterrent. Technology, when understood and used for righteous purposes, need not be a threat but rather an enhancement to spiritual communication.

For example, many of us have a personal electronic device that fits into our pocket. We are seldom without its company; we may refer to it many times a day. Unfortunately, these devices can be a source of filth and wasted time. But, used with discipline, this technology can be a tool of protection from the worst of society.

Who could have imagined not very many years ago that the full standard works and years of general conference messages would fit into your pocket? Just having them in your pocket will not protect you, but studying, pondering, and listening to them during quiet moments of each day will enhance communication through the Spirit.

Be wise in how you embrace technology. Mark important scriptures on your device and refer back to them frequently. If you young people would review a verse of scripture as often as some of you send text messages, you could soon have hundreds of passages of scripture memorized. Those passages would prove to be a powerful source of inspiration and guidance by the Holy Ghost in times of need."
