  1. Verse 20 - "Oh how great the holiness of our God! For he knoweth all things..." God knows all the bad choices I will make and yet He still chose to suffer for me.
And then in verse 28 - "Oh...the foolishness of men. When they are learned they think they are wise, and they hearken not unto the counsel of God, for they set it aside, supposing they know of themselves, wherefore, their wisdom is foolishness and it profiteth them not. And they shall perish."
I think I may know a lot, but God knows everything! And He still loves me and just asks for my obedience.

  2. In verse 27, it says "to waste the days of our probation?" In the institute manual it says, "Our mortal life is sometimes called “the days of our probation”—in other words, a time to be tested."  This verse got me thinking about how I am spending my time.  Am I using the time I have been given wisely? Am I focusing on the things that matter most or am I being distracted by things that don't matter? I need to focus on spending my time on things of worth and not getting distracted.  It is a challenge with all of the distraction around us but I know things go better when I am doing those things I should be doing.

    1. I appreciate this Melissa. Part of our test is also to learn what matters most. I still have a hard time carving out my personal time to devote to the service of others. So... what masters most? Academic achievement? Professional credentials earned to be recognized among the elite of the world? Winning the competition or next race? Or is it simpler than that... my relationship with my wife and whether I have spent quality time with my children, teaching them about what matters most.

Jacob's teaching about the robe of righteousness is very visual, it helped illustrate for me the need to be better prepared for that resurrection that will come. We will be given a place only according to where we are comfortable. Filthy? Clean? Maybe just some mediocre level somewhere in between.
