2 Nephi 20:15; Isaiah teaches about the ingratitude of the King of Assyria. Why is it important to always be grateful?

Good Talk

  1. This king of Assyria--had an “I disease” and a “pronoun problem”. Lots of I’s, me’s, and my’s. Contrast this to Nephi and other prophets who always give the glory and credit to God.
I love this scripture that reminds us of our relationship to God. John 15:5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

  2. Thank you for the talk today, I really loved the message. I loved this part, "We sometimes think that being grateful is what we do after our problems are solved, but how terribly shortsighted that is. How much of life do we miss by waiting to see the rainbow before thanking God that there is rain?

Being grateful in times of distress does not mean that we are pleased with our circumstances. It does mean that through the eyes of faith we look beyond our present-day challenges."

  3. This talk by President Uchtdorf is excellent, exactly what I was looking for today.

I really like how he says gratitude leads to humility. Isn't the combination of gratitude and humility another form of "broken heart and contrite spirit?"

  4. Acknowledge The Lord and he shall direct your paths. The king did not acknowledge the lord's hand in his successes and would no longer be sustained and prospered by The Lord as shown in vs 16.
